Pete continued his progress on our 1969 Aston Martin DB6 Volante, focusing on the replacement alloy sections. The rear lower quarters have now been completed, and the front lower rear sections of the wings have been fitted and flushed. Work then moved to the fabrication of both front arches, involving a combination of hand rolling and hammer work to shape the wire edging around the new arch sections.

Welding began on the upper arch of the passenger side, with each section being welded, panel beaten, and cleaned progressively. The front passenger arch was then seam-welded, and existing holes in the top of the wing were filled. The panel was then worked back to the chassis wire connection and shaped carefully to follow the car’s original lines. Heat ripples created during welding were smoothed out as much as possible to minimise the amount of body filler required during the paint preparation stage.

The rear lower quarter and wing on the passenger side were DA sanded, and work commenced on fabricating the lower front valance panels.
