Jonn carried out various repairs on our 1968 MG C Roadster, beginning with the refitting and securing of the gearbox cross member. The rear end was wire-brushed and undersealed before the exhaust was refitted and secured in place.

Preparation work for painting included blasting the radiator cowling, mounting brackets, top mount, and air filter housing. These components were washed and blown out to remove debris. The front offside suspension was then stripped, and the shock absorber top and bottom bushes were replaced. The lower arm was split, and the suspension was chocked using a transmission jack. The lower pin and bush were removed, and new polyurethane bushes were fitted following a thorough cleaning. The assembly was then rebuilt, with all bolts cleaned and nuts replaced where necessary before securing.

The same process was carried out on the nearside suspension. However, the lower bush was in worse condition, requiring it to be drilled and cut out before the new bushes could be fitted. The shock absorber bushes were also replaced, and the assembly was rebuilt and secured.

The gearbox cross member was once again refitted and secured, and the rear end was wire-brushed and undersealed before reinstalling the exhaust. The exhaust mounts were then secured.

The fuel hose from the tank to the pump was removed, and the front arches were stripped and undersealed. The front brakes were also serviced by stripping and fitting new pads, followed by refitting the front wheels and tightening them properly.

The nearside rear brake and hub assembly was then addressed. The flange was removed to access the hub seal, and both sides of the backplate were cleaned down before removal. The flange was also cleaned. A new hub seal was installed, and the backplate was refitted and secured with new nuts. The brake shoes were cleaned before refitting the hub flange, aligning, and tightening. A new split pin was installed, and the drum was refitted, with the brake shoes adjusted accordingly.
