Pete’s inspection of our 1966 Mg Midget began with tracing a burned wire from the earth point located under the bonnet. The wire was followed through the firewall and along the underside of the dashboard, terminating at a terminal connection behind the speedo unit. It was noted that the wiring loom was split along its entire length, necessitating a full dash strip for further inspection. At various checkpoints along the loom, no damage to other wires was detected. However, due to the burned wire, the operation of the speedo could not be tested without remedial work.

A new wire was run through the original loom, and the burned section was removed. Following this repair, the vehicle starts and runs as expected. Additionally, the lighting system and charging system were tested and found to be functioning correctly. Items removed by the customer were not tested as part of this work.
