Two of the most celebrated supercars ever built, Gordon Murray’s McLaren F1 and its spiritual successor, the T.50, are both going to be for sale at RM Sotheby’s Abu Dhabi Collectors’ Week in December. Coming from the same private collection, this will be the first time a Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 has ever been offered at public auction!
The auction is being hosted at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort during the Formula 1 weekend.
1994 McLaren F1
One of just 64 road-going examples ever built, the McLaren F1 is chassis 014 and was originally delivered to the Brunei Royal Family in Titanium Yellow over a black leather and Alcantara interior. In 2007, it underwent a full rebuild at McLaren’s Woking headquarters, and left in Ibis White and fitted with the sought-after High-Downforce Kit, an upgrade that includes a fixed rear wing, GTR-style front bumper and splitter, and LM-spec louvres.
Only eight F1s were ever fitted with the High-Downforce Kit, making this a particularly rare configuration. It also has black-painted OZ Racing wheels and an LM-spec interior. Interestingly, the car has two autographs from Formula 1 legends on it, Michael Schumacher (signed in 1996) and Lewis Hamilton (signed during his 2007 rookie season).
The F1 is estimated to sell for more than $21 million (approximately £15.7 million).
“This is not just about selling extraordinary cars. The McLaren F1 and GMA T.50 are the ultimate expressions of performance, craftsmanship, and distinction. They embody the very spirit of Abu Dhabi Collectors’ Week—a celebration of power, elegance, and exclusivity.”
Duccio Lopresto, Managing Director, MENA at RM Sotheby’s.

2025 Gordon Murray Automotive T.50
Offered alongside its predecessor is the 35th of just 100 production T.50s. Developed by Gordon Murray Automotive, the T.50 is powered by a high-revving 4.0-litre Cosworth V12 that delivers 661 bhp to the rear wheels through a six-speed Xtrac manual gearbox. Weighing just 986 kg and capable of an incredibly impressive 28,400 rpm per second, it’s been described as one of the greatest driver’s cars of all time.
Chassis 035 was specified in Harrier paint with gloss carbon accents, dark grey wheels, and black Brembo callipers. It features several bespoke touches, including glass roof panels, silver engine script, and Heritage Orange badging, a nod to Murray’s first race car design, the T.1. It also comes with a Touring sixth gear ratio and a four-piece fitted luggage set.
The T.50 is estimated to sell for more than $5 million (approximately £3.7 million).
“Both of these iconic cars are offered from a spectacular collection in Denmark, and we are proud to be entrusted by the owner to offer them in our upcoming Collectors’ Week auction in Abu Dhabi. It is a landmark moment to bring the first GMA T.50 to auction, but to have it alongside a McLaren F1, the greatest of all time, is something very special indeed. These cars will be an undoubted highlight of the Collectors’ Week sale.”
