The workshop are making progress on the 1968 MGC Roadster which is on the ramps here at Bridge Classic Cars HQ in Suffolk. Our technician Jon has been working on the master cylinder and the brakes of the straight-six powered 1960s sportscar.

Jon has used a variety of different seal kits to get the master cylinder rebuilt, before pressurising the unit and checking operation.

‘Refit brake master cylinder to pedal box. Connect pipes andsecure. Refit clutch master cylinder and with johns help, secure. Refit pedal box and connect pedal springs . Fit new clevis pin to clutch pedal push rod and fit new split pins to both. Bleed rear circuit to servo.’

‘Get on ramp and bleed all brakes. Rear brakes won’t pump anything again. But bled to servo fine. Rig up pressure bleeder and retry. Horrible white sludge fluid eventually came out of the rear circuit. Disconnect bleed and test brakes. They seems to work OK now. Rebleed system again with pressure bleeder.’

‘Refit pedal box cover and refit offside rear wheel and knock up tight. Bleed clutch manually ok. Top up both reservoirs where required. ‘
