Dave, one of our restoration technicians here at the Bridge Classic Cars HQ, has been making steady progress on the 1969 Audi 70L. At this stage, Dave has been working on getting the heating system plumbed and fitted in the engine bay of the freshly restored German saloon.
”Sandblasted T pieces for heater hoses, made up all heater hoses and connected to heater box and engine, ran pipes to automatic choke from T pieces. Routed and secured fuel line to block. Heater up and adjusted heater hose bracket to clear throttle linkage attached battery earth cable. Removed fan rubber Sandblasted fan rubber clip and fitted fitted second hand rubber with old clip. Fabricated metal pipe to join water pump to inlet manifold and fitted.”
”Checked all brake pipe fitting, removed rear wheels and adjusted rear brakes. Removed handbrake adjuster cleaned threads and replaced adjusting nut refitted and adjusted. Filled reservoir and bled brakes front and rear. Fitted trim clips to sill trims, filed out holes in sills and fitted trims nearside and offside. Fitted rubber to cooling fan. Secured fuel line to block.”
”Fabricated breather tube for rocker cover and got Clinton to weld it. Fabricated two metal rectangular washers for glove box to cover damaged bolt holes, cleaned glove box latch fitted glove box door back together and refitted. Fitted new fuel hose to fuel tank, wired handbrake adjuster boot back in place. Filled engine with. Refitted cover to bottom of heater box. Removed nearside sill front trim clip as it wasn’t holding had to glue it in place and refitted front of trim.”
”Sandblasted wiper blades and painted. Removed offside front wheel stripped down nearside front suspension to access halfshaft. Couldn’t remove hub from outer CV, as it was seized, removed outer CV from halfshaft with hub still attached removed outer gaiter cleaned up parts as necessary greased inner and outer CV joints, fitted new inner a nd old outer gaiters used appropriate clips. Refitted hub, refitted halfshaft and hub. Repaired washer bottle and fitted.”
”Fabricated spacer for fuel tank sender unit using 6 mm aluminium plate. Also had to straightened fuel tank as it was damaged stopping fuel sender fitting properly. Fitted new battery.”
”Fabricated hinge for bonnet stay, cut down battery clamps rethreaded and fitted fitted pedal rubbers. Filed boot badge holes and fitted both badges. Tightened down tank sender and fitted wire. Fitted new coil and cleaned up wiring to coil.”
