Main Body Repairs

Pete has completed the final sections on the 1969 Aston Martin DB6 Volante, with the sills now fully trimmed and the wire-to-chassis welds finished. All holes were plugged and smoothed in preparation for the painters. Work also resumed on the boot lid, addressing previous poor repairs by cutting out the rotten areas to replace the captive thread for the boot catch. Pete fabricated a new number plate recess section to replace the previously removed, corroded original, which was deemed the most appropriate solution.

It was also noted that the catch bracket will likely require a spacer to compensate for the variation in mating surface thickness, with further details to follow. This stage marks a pretty significant milestone in the restoration of the Aston.
