The Lotus Emeya, the brand’s all-electric hyper-GT, is now officially one of the fastest-charging EVs available on public infrastructure.

The new record was set in Kuwait by Lotus Al Ghanim, the brand’s official dealer in the region. Using Lotus’ own 450kW DC charger, the Emeya achieved a peak charging power of 443kW, nearly the full capacity of the ultra-fast unit. That enabled the car to charge from 10 to 80 per cent in just 13 minutes and 35 seconds, all while operating in the region’s high temperatures.

A big part of Emeya’s performance is a cell-to-pack battery structure, allowing 20% more cells to be fitted into the same space compared to traditional designs. A new cooling system architecture has also been integrated, boosting thermal performance and efficiency.

Supporting all this is an 800-volt electrical system, shared with the Lotus Eletre SUV, enabling faster charging and better efficiency across a range of chargers.

On the road, energy consumption is as low as 18.7kWh per 100km (WLTC), and a 10-minute charge can deliver up to 310km of range. The 2026 model year also offers a WLTP range of up to 379 miles (610km).

To complement its growing EV range, Lotus is rolling out a fully integrated charging ecosystem. This includes the Lotus Cars app and the in-car Lotus HyperOS system, both of which offer intelligent EV routing to help drivers find nearby chargers, optimise battery usage, and reduce travel time.

Lotus has already begun installing its 450kW chargers in Germany, with more European markets to follow soon.
