This is the new Lotus Eletre R. It weighs just under 3 tonnes and has been labelled as a “hyper-SUV”. It’s full of tech, has 900bhp, can go from 0 – 62mph in under 3 seconds, and can charge from 10% up to 80% in 20 minutes.
Is it too far removed from the iconic Elise though?




Lotus Eletre R
Built in Wuhan, the Eletre R is positioned as Lotus’s first electric lifestyle vehicle. The idea is that the Eletre moves the Lotus brand into mainstream luxury with genuine performance.
The Standard / S trims model has a dual‑motor setup delivering around 600 bhp, 0 – 62 mph in 4.5 seconds, and a top speed of 160 mph.
The Eletre R produces 900 bhp via a dual-speed rear motor, goes from 0 – 62 mph in around 2.9 s and continues up to 165 mph.
The 112 kWh battery (107 kWh useable) supports 800‑volt charging at up to 350 kW, charging 10–80% in just 20 minutes. WLTP range reaches around 373 miles in base trims and around 309 miles in the R.




Interior And Practicality
The interior of the Lotus Eletre is made from a range of high-quality materials such as Alcantara, metal switchgear, and recycled textiles. It has a 15.1‑inch central screen, digital dash, head‑up display and passenger touchscreen as well as plenty of space for four adults, and a 688‑litre boot.
