Jonn investigated a rubbing noise from the offside rear of our 1968 Lotus Cortina and traced the issue to the brake drum making contact with the backplate. He removed the wheel and drum, smoothed both surfaces, and repositioned the backplate to prevent further contact. The wheel was then refitted and torqued to 60lb/ft.

Jonn also drained the gearbox, cleaned the bung, applied PTFE tape to ensure a proper seal, and refitted the bung before refilling the gearbox with fresh oil. A short test drive around the yard confirmed everything was functioning correctly.
