Our workshop is always a hive of activity. This time, our team are working on getting to the bottom of a running issue with the 1963 Morris LD. John, our workshop manager, has been trying to found out why this is happening and how the team can fix it.
Jon, another one of our emmensely talented technicians, came out to lend a hand by removing and stripping down the carburettor on the work bench as he suspected there was an issue with the float being set too high.
”Strip on bench. Clean and inspect. Found dirt in float bowl and jet seemed blocked. Strip, blow out and reassemble. Fit washer under needle valve to shut fuel off earlier. Refit andthen refit to vehicle. Connect and run up and test. Runs ok needs setting up.”
”Take outside and warm up. Adjust timing and mixture. Carry out small road test. Bring back and adjust idle speed. Check hot starts OK. Refit engine cover and reconnect choke able. Check choke operation and refit engine top cover. Test again, all OK.”
