Our technician Jon has been tasked with looking into this beautiful bright blue classic Mini for its owner after it had failed its MOT. Jon took the cars MOT certificate and began to work his way through the list for the car.
”Check MOT failure items and order parts. Confirm stop lights not working. Short out wiring at switch and lights work, requires switch. Confirm rear foglight and telltale not working. Inspect switch and found it not connected. Reconnect and test, OK now. Inspect all ball joints and clean. All rubbers intact and as should be. As for failing on inner ball joints, they don’t have an inner ball joint. I suspect they think hydralastic suspension bottom mount is a ball joint. Both covers are off but not a failure. Remove front wheels and resecure bottom mounts and lockwire in place. Refit wheels and torque up. Also noticed nearside rack gaiter split so requires gaiter also. Remove brake light switch to match up.”

”Fit new brake light switch and test, ok. Remove nearside front wheel, strip and fit new rack gaiter and secure. Refit track rod end and lock up tight. Refit wheel and torque to 60nm then refit trim.”
