British electric sports car maker, Longbow has revealed the Aesthetic Dynamic Demonstrator of its first model, the Speedster. Longbow is calling this stunning car, the world’s first Featherweight Electric Vehicle (FEV).
Featherweight Electric Vehicle
The Longbow Speedster weighs 895kg and has a 0-62mph time of 3.5 seconds. It’s not just the car itself that is fast though as the Speedster has set a record for the fastest development of its kind, as it has gone from an initial sketch to a working prototype in just six months. This is roughly a year ahead of traditional OEM timelines.
You can tell that British automotive history has been considered during the design process. The front silhouette of the Speedster hints at British classics, while the rear shows off the car’s modern EV platform.
The bespoke aluminium chassis, paired with a compact electric motor and integrated ‘module-to-chassis’ battery layout, helps keep weight low and rigidity high.
The Speedster has a WLTP range of 275 miles and starts at £84,995 (including VAT). A Roadster version with a fixed roof will follow, priced from £64,995.
Designed and Built in the UK
Every Longbow car is designed, engineered, and hand-assembled in the UK under the “Speed of Lightness” philosophy.
All 2026 launch units of the Speedster have already been allocated. Reservations for both the Speedster and Roadster are open via longbowmotors.com.
Filling A Gap
Longbow’s debut model aims to fill the gap left by lightweight British icons like the Lotus Elise and early TVRs.
