Every year on April 30th, Land Rover enthusiasts celebrate Land Rover Day.

On this day in 1948, the very first Land Rover was unveiled at the Amsterdam Motor Show. We might not have known it at the time, but this would be the start of what would become a global symbol of durability, adventure, and practicality.

Originally designed for farming and utility in post-war Britain, the first Land Rover was a simple, rugged machine built to handle just about anything. Its appeal quickly grew beyond the fields, with Land Rovers going on to serve in military operations, emergency rescue missions, and remote expeditions across the globe.

Land Rover Day is a chance to look back on the incredible journey Land Rover has been on. It’s about celebrating a vehicle that’s been trusted for over 75 years by explorers, mechanics, families, and collectors alike. Whether you own a Series I, a Defender 90, or just admire them from afar, April 30th is a reminder of how one vehicle helped shape the way we think about utility, adventure, and reliability.

If you have any photos of your current or previous Land Rovers, we’d love to see them!
