Restomods often push the boundaries of their original subject. However, there is a company based in Modena, Italy, that creates Porsche 911 Restomods that don’t look to make the original better, but to respect how great these cars actually were in the first place. Lab Eleven builds these cars from air-cooled 993-generation 911s, with each car rebuilt with a focus on authenticity, usability, and longevity.

It’s Still Very Much a Porsche

Rather than introducing bespoke or hard-to-replace parts, Lab Eleven sticks closely to Porsche’s original engineering. Wherever possible, original components are used, allowing the car to be serviced through Porsche Classic’s global network. It’s a practical approach that also helps retain mechanical loyalty to the brand.

Subtle But Purposeful Design

The exterior stays true to the original design, though weight has been subtly reduced through the use of aluminium in place of heavier materials. Optional carbon fibre front and rear bumpers are available, alongside a lightweight aluminium bonnet and ducktail lid. Buyers can choose from an extended palette of original Porsche paint colours, with a choice of Classic or Aero wheels. Original-style lighting is retained, but updated with modern internals for improved performance.


Air-Cooled, Naturally Aspirated, and Better for It

Each car is powered by a 4-litre air-cooled flat-six producing 360bhp and 420Nm of torque. It’s paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and stays naturally aspirated, favouring throttle response and sound over outright numbers. The goal is to enhance the original driving experience, not reinvent it.

Chassis Tuning 

Underneath, the upgrades aim to modernise without diluting the analogue feel. The suspension is handled by a Bilstein Sport setup, paired with a limited-slip differential offering up to 40% lock. The chassis can be fine-tuned with adjustable settings tailored for either road or fast-road use, while braking is managed by an FIA-approved system, with optional carbon-ceramic discs depending on the build.

Everything is engineered to enhance control and feedback, rather than change the car’s character.

Classic Inside, Modern Where It Matters

Inside, the car manages to balance period-correct style with modern usability. Recaro bucket seats are offered with either leather or cloth upholstery, complemented by classic Pepita or tartan fabric options. The dashboard and door cards are wrapped in leather, while Porsche Classic infotainment is subtly integrated to maintain the vintage aesthetic. For an added touch of individuality, custom luggage can be specified to match the interior trim.

It’s all hand-finished, with materials chosen for both authenticity and durability.

Modern Systems, Hidden in Plain Sight

Behind the classic appearance is a discreetly modernised electrical system. The wiring architecture has been refreshed to meet modern standards, while climate controls have been updated for improved comfort. Additional features include a battery kill switch and FIA-compliant safety options, ensuring the car is as functional as possible.
