A 2010 Porsche 911 (997.2) Carrera S, owned from new by television presenter and motoring journalist James May, is now up for auction on Collecting Cars until 25th November 2025.

Finished in Carrara White with an Ocean Blue extended leather interior, it’s done just 31,294 miles and reflects May’s well-documented passion for engaging, characterful cars. Described as a “wonderful thing” by May himself, the car features a six-speed manual gearbox, a rare limited-slip rear differential, and 19-inch Carrera Classic alloys.

“I’ve had this 911 from new, and I’ve loved every mile of its life with me. I’m only parting with it because I have too many cars and not enough space – a common issue when you love cars. It’s a wonderful thing: fast enough, beautifully balanced, and with that lovely manual gearbox that reminds you why Porsche gets these cars so right. I hope its next custodian enjoys it as much as I have.”

James May

May, known to many as Captain Slow from Top Gear and The Grand Tour, ordered the car new in 2010 with several choice options, including PCM 3.0 with Extended Navigation, a BOSE sound system, and a universal audio interface. Throughout his ownership, the car has been serviced by Porsche main dealers and a trusted Porsche specialist.

Widely regarded as the sweet spot in the naturally aspirated, water-cooled 911 lineage, the 997.2 Carrera S combines analogue feel with modern reliability, making it one of the most desirable driver’s cars of its generation. Offered directly from May’s ownership, the car comes with its full service history, original manuals, and both keys.

“Cars with truly traceable, one-owner history are becoming increasingly rare – but a one-owner 997.2 Carrera S from James May is something rather special. The 997.2 sits in that perfect place where analogue feel meets modern engineering, and James has clearly cherished this one from day one. We’re delighted to bring it to market and expect strong interest from collectors and drivers alike.”
