Yesterday, I stood next to the Jaguar Type 00. I’ve obviously written about this car before, and I’ve seen images and a range of videos. However, seeing it in person and having a conversation with the Director of Jaguar UK, next to the car, really brought it to life.
Attention Grabbing Jaguar Type 00
The first thing that I noticed is that it is incredibly attention-grabbing. Whatever your thoughts are on the concept, you can’t deny that it has a powerful presence when on display. There is no confusing it with any other car; it is quite clearly and obviously Type 00.
While admiring the car, I had a conversation with the Director of Jaguar UK, Santino Pietrosanti. Santino has been involved with Type 00 from the start, so it was a great experience talking to him about the car right in front of me.
Only two of these cars currently exist, and both of them were in the same room as me and Santino. There are very few occasions when something like that happens, so I certainly appreciated it happening to me.
As I’m surrounded by classic cars every day, seeing a car like the Type 00 that feels ultra modern but still connected to heritage is really exciting. It doesn’t rely on nostalgia to capture people’s attention; it builds on it.
As Gerry McGovern said when the Typee 00 launched, “Some may love it now, some may love it later, and some may never love it. That’s what fearless creativity does.”
I think I love it now!
