Picking up where he had left off, Jon continued working through the braking system on our 1959 Jaguar MKIX, focusing first on the front assemblies. He cleaned the components thoroughly, carefully sanding the edges of the pads before applying lubrication where needed, and ensured that the pistons were pushing back squarely into their housings. Once satisfied with their movement, he refitted the pads and pumped the system up, noting an immediate improvement as the wheel could now be turned by hand.
He then repeated the same process on the offside, where he observed that a different set of pads had been fitted. Working the components in and out, Jon found the pistons began to move more freely, so he sanded and lubricated the pads before refitting them. With both sides addressed, he refitted the wheels and torqued them correctly before reinstalling the trims, leaving the braking action noticeably improved.
