Ben, one of our amazing restoration technicians, has been carefully and methodically going over every square inch of the 1954 Aston Martin DB2/4 here at the Bridge Classic Cars Suffolk HQ. Whilst Ben checked every part and piece of the classic British GT car, our paint and body team have been inspecting and deconstructing the one-piece aluminium clamshell which will need restoring to match the body work. For that, our technician Mauro has removed the inner ‘superleggera’ framework from within the piece for it all to be taken and worked on by our fabrication team.
‘There are various leaks from engine, gearbox and from front damper. Play in the steering box, king pins. Lots of loose fixings such as front engine mounts. The nsr suspension casting has failed at some point and has a poor repair. The loom is for a RHD vehicle such that wiring is on the wrong side. This is just a quick summary such that the car is in bits so I cannot inspect.’
‘The chrome has damage on bonnet items suggesting a crash at some point, there is also damage to the crash bar which has been repaired on front of car, these parts will likely need to be straightened or replaced. The rest of the chrome is tarnished, scratched and pitted.’
