Gordon Murray Special Vehicles has announced that the first and final available S1 LM, Chassis #1, will go up for sale at auction with RM Sotheby’s during the amfAR Gala at the 2025 Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix.
The auction takes place on 21st November at the Wynn Las Vegas, where Professor Gordon Murray will receive the amfAR Award of Innovation. The winning bidder will also have the opportunity to collaborate directly with Murray to customise the car to their perfect specification.
Created to mark 30 years since the McLaren F1 GTR’s 1995 Le Mans victory, the S1 LM is the debut model from Gordon Murray’s new Special Vehicles Division. Designed by the same mind behind the original F1 LM, this car reimagines a motorsport legend for the modern era.
It has a naturally aspirated 4.3-litre GMA Cosworth V12 producing over 700 horsepower at 12,100 rpm. With a target weight of 957 kg and a six-speed manual gearbox, the S1 LM will give an incredible driving experience.
The car’s engineering includes a bespoke Inconel exhaust system with gold foil heat shielding and a high-revving V12 tuned for maximum response. Interestingly, the rear fan and oil cooling system have been removed to make room for this larger, lighter, and more potent engine. The quad central exhausts are a direct nod to the 1995 Le Mans-winning McLaren.
Just five S1 LMs will be built, replicating the original F1 LM production run. For Gordon Murray, this project has a very personal connection as it was designed during his recovery from cancer.

Estimates suggest the car could sell for more than $20 million (approximately £15 million)
