The Bridge Classic Cars restoration team have been working their way through the work order to get this beautiful 1954 MG TF back up and running beautifully. With previously finding that the tank had suffered massive corrosion in the fuel tank and carburettors, the team have been methodically working their way through the various systems for the cars resurrection. Our paint and body team had to rectify a slight blemish on the newly painted fuel tank before our technician Jon began his mechnical work on the classic sports car.
Here’s what he did in his own words:
”Fit tank cap adapter plate and secure. Fit cap and release. Get new sender and connect and test. Works opposite way round so mount upside down when i fit it. Solder on new spade terminals to wiring. Cut float arm down to length and get Clinton to weld together. Fit to tank with new seal and secure. Mount tank to car. Connect fuel pipe and sender. Put in 10ltrs E5petrol and check for leaks, ok.turn ignition on and wat h fuel filter fillmup and check carbs for leaks, ok. Finish mounting tank. Refit rear trims, bumper and luggage rack. Refit spare wheel etc. Guage reading between empty and quarter full. Take outside and warm up. Adjust idle sped. Refit bonnet and carry out road test to ufford and back. Drives a dream absolutely no issues.”
