If you haven’t heard of Get Lost Automotive yet, I imagine you will have very soon, as they have just unveiled their very first vehicle – Project Safari, a ground-up reimagining of the Elise S1.
Get Lost was founded by automotive photographer GFWilliams and is all about creating cars that are fun but are also usable, innovative, and quite simply, pretty cool. Project Safari certainly seems to tick all of those boxes with the Elise’s instantly recognisable silhouette combined with chunky all-terrain tyres, a custom suspension setup, and other modifications like a hydraulic handbrake and roof scoop.

Elise S1 to Project Safari
Visually, Project Safari looks like an Elise S1 of sorts, but there are some pretty obvious differences. It has rectangular headlights and a fully reworked interior made from premium materials, to name just a couple.
A completely new suspension system increases both ride height and track width, while maintaining control and confidence over rough terrain. The powertrain has also been upgraded to deliver robust, reliable performance.
“The idea of taking an Elise off-road might sound ridiculous, and that’s exactly why we leaned into it. That one silly idea gave us real creative freedom. Every element was considered from the ground up, not just to look good in isolation, but to enhance the character and capability of the entire car. It wasn’t enough for the car to look good – it had to be brilliant to drive too.”
George Williams, founder of Get Lost
Customer builds for Project Safari are set to begin later this year, and Get Lost is now open to interest from buyers, collaborators, and fans ready to embrace something a bit different.
