Genesis has revealed its first sports car concept in the form of Magma GT. Shown at Le Castellet in France, this stunning car is meant to lay the foundation for the brand’s high-performance direction over the next 10 years.
First Pure Sportscar from Genesis
The Magma GT Concept is the brand’s first pure sports car. It has been designed to represent the ethos of “Effortless Performance”. Basically, it’s an ethos that is more about driving precision than just brute force. Instead of prioritising raw speed, Genesis has focused on balance and confidence.
“The Magma GT Concept represents the pinnacle of our performance vision and stands as a symbol of our commitment to true motorsport capability. It isn’t defined by raw aggression or uncompromising speed, it is defined by balance. This is a car that feels instinctively connected to its driver, composed under pressure, and meticulously tuned so that every component serves a single purpose: to make performance effortless. The Magma GT doesn’t ask the driver to prove their skill; it enhances it. This is not simply a faster Genesis. It is the most complete expression of Genesis performance to date.”
Luc Donckerwolke, President and Chief Creative Officer of Genesis
Shaped by Motorsport, Built for Road and Track
The Magma GT has a low-set bonnet, elongated roofline, and muscular rear fenders, giving it a sleek, track-ready stance. The rear narrows into a boat-tail cabin design, enhancing aerodynamic efficiency and reinforcing the “low and wide” posture typical of GT racers.
Aerodynamics play a big role in the Magma GT’s visual appearance. Front canards are integrated into the headlights to add downforce, and the G-Matrix patterns stretch from the front splitter, forming wing-like shapes that guide airflow. A mechanical two-line rear lamp graphic and fully optimised rear aero structure give the whole car a great look while still helping it perform to its full potential.
The Magma GT concept has a mid-rear engine layout. This is an intentional move that highlights Genesis’ goal to compete in the GT racing category.
More Than a Concept
While technically still a concept, the Magma GT is effectively a halo car in development. It will go on to lead a performance-focused lineup and play an important role in the brand’s motorsport strategy.
