Our restoration technician Jon has got the 1956 Jensen 541 on his ramp here at the Bridge Classic Cars workshops in Suffolk to refit the rebuilt steering box into the car. Before it was installed under the bonnet of the unique 1950’s GT car, Jon took the time to clean up and inspect all of the hardware for the installation. Jon could then work on cleaning up threads and make some adjustments to some of the fixings to allow the box to be centred by turning it from side to side.
Once back in the car, Jon could refit the tunnel trim and interior parts so the car could be taken out of roadtest.
”Check over all works carried out while it’s been here. Indicators OK. Gearbox oil level OK and gear selection when hot acceptable. Recheck steering box secure and shaft. Take outside and align steering wheel. Carry out road test. Set steering straight and align wheel. Refit horn push and test.”
