Our restoration workshop are known for their diagnostic skills. With a passion for perfection and the endless pursuit of this goal – most notably is our technician Jon, who is without a doubt one of the most meticulous people that we have met. He has been chasing down a rough-running issue with the 1971 Mercedes 250 for the past few weeks.

Jon discovered that the accelerator pump on the rear carburettor was the likely culprit so he has replaced the pumps diaphram.

”Rebuild rear carb and test. Strip and lube choke mechanism on rear carb. Runs but misfires. Remove and clean spark, plugs. Check fuel supply ok. Start with carb guide and start checking settings. Roughly align thing. Now run on 6 cylinders. Found rear carb venturi upside down. Strip and swap round. Run better. Tune as best as I can and for a while it ran like a dream. Drive wround yard and when it gets hot it gets worse. Need tools to set up.”
