Final checks and a very happy winner

With our 1983 Porsche 911 having been won recently, it was time to get the iconic German sportscar over to the Bridge Classic Cars restoration workshop for our technician Jon to finish up the final repairs read for its excited winner to come and collect his new pride and joy.

”Fit dipstick and run engine until warm. Check oil level at idle, ok. Look into running a wire in for reverse lights. Find ignition live at fuse box. Use original fuse no 8. Strip interior carpet and under bonnet. Find grommet into cabin and feed wire through. Strip centre console and feed wire down to tunnel. Raise car and feed a long piece of metal wire through grommet and into tunnel. Find inside. Tape electrical wire to metal and pull back throughinto engine bay. Refit tunnel and centre console. Tape wire to loom in footwell and refit carpets.”

”Check indicators not working. Found blown fuse. Replace and test, ok. Speedo not working. Check connection to speed sensor in gearbox. Check resistance. Check resistance on wiring into car, but open circuit unit. Remove inspection/access panel in rear tunnel and found wiring disconnected at multi plug. Reconnect, raise on ramp and test, OK now. Carry out road test and fill with P1 fuel.”

”Crimp on terminal at gearbox end and connect. Crimp new terminal on to wire to lights and connect. Connect at fuse box and test. Reverse lights on all the while. Removeswitch and test on bench, OK. Use washer to space out switch and refit. Test again, OK now. Top up gearbox. Refit Covers and trims etc.”
