Having been in storage over the winter, the 1939 Jaguar SS100 has come over to our restoration workshops for the team to get the car ready for the summer.
‘Carry out lights and levels check. Levels OK, A/F -20’c. Carry out minor road test. Car cut out at the gate upon return. Electrically dead. Found main 12v feed to ignition switch come out. Get enough contact to drive back to workshop. Refit wire to ignition switch and test. Tighten roof clips. Get on ramp and check to see if clutch h an be adjusted, but no. Clutch slips under hard accelerator.’
‘On road test it was noted that the clutch was slipping under load so the so it was decided to remove the gearbox to investigate. Look into cause of clutch slipping. Clutch contaminated with oil. Look into cause of oil contamination. Possible coming through bolts on oil seal conversion.’
