As part of the preaprations to get the 1955 Aston Martin DB2/4 Drophead Coupe into colour, our restoration technicians have been working their way through the various panels and pieces to perfect the metalwork and give the car its new look. As part of the that, our technician Greg has had to cut out and patch pair of the bonnet which our paint and body team have tried to correct through hammer and dolly but the team took the decision to replace the area.
Alongside the bonnet, the team have had to rework the door edges to perfect the panel gaps and edges. As the team have been filing the gaps, it has opened up some of the seam area of the aluminium doors. So, our fabricator Greg has been in the paint and body shop to help the team out.
As part of the cars journey into colour, Greg has been working alongside our paint and body team preparing sections and pieces of the car such as the seal panel between the sills and the wheel wells and then beginning work to sand back the underside of the bonnet.
Whilst the team work on the bodyshell of the classic Aston Martin, Mauro has taken the prepared panels and pieces into the spray booth and beging the process of getting them shot in epoxy.
