Jonn continued his appraisal of our 2012 Land Rover Defender 90, starting with refitting the front prop slider rubber and greasing both prop shafts. The gearbox and transfer box were checked and topped up as required. The handbrake (trans brake) was adjusted for optimal performance.

The wheels were removed to allow for a thorough cleaning and inspection of the brakes. Once completed, the wheels were refitted, the tyres were inflated to the correct pressure, and the wheel nuts were torqued to specification. A new bulb was fitted to the number plate light, which was then tested and confirmed to be working.

An issue with the washer system was investigated, revealing a broken main washer jet. The nearside seat was removed to access and remove tools stored beneath it before being refitted. Coach bolts were sourced for the holes in the rear floor, and all were painted black. While waiting for the paint to dry, the radio code was entered. Once dry, the bolts were fitted to the rear floor and tightened, with mastic applied to each for sealing. All fitted bolts in the rear floor were undersealed, and any necessary areas were painted black.

Further electrical checks found the high-level stop light was not functioning due to a blown bulb, which was replaced and tested successfully. The driver’s seatbelt was untwisted, and any frayed edges were carefully burned off. Lastly, the white reflectors were removed from the rear of the vehicle.
