Coolant Leak

Jonn carried out an appraisal of our 1975 Triumph Stag. The battery was charged but found to be dead. The spare tyre was checked, inflated, and refitted in the boot. The vehicle was raised for an inspection of the underside, including checks on the axle and gearbox fluid levels. All wheels were removed, and the front brakes were stripped and inspected. The discs were de-rusted and pad marks removed from the surfaces. Brake pads were cleaned, lubricated, and refitted.

Traces of coolant were found within the engine vee, beneath the inlet manifold. The area was dried, and a cooling system pressure test was performed. Green coolant reappeared under the manifold after approximately two minutes. The air filter assembly was removed to assist with inspection, but the source of the leak could not be identified due to the obstruction caused by the intakes and carburettors. Further dismantling is required to trace the origin of the leak.
