Competition Cars Everywhere

This week has been a jam-packed week for competition cars coming in and out of the workshops. We’ve been all over the country looking, delivery and collecting cars so here’s a roundup off all things classic car competitions.

2003 Porsche Boxter 2.7

New arrival into the workshops is our 2003 Porsche Boxter. Already turning a lot of heads, some may not consider this to be a true classic but look…it’s 22 years old now. No way does it look 22 years old.

Boxter’s have been a popular one for us previously and the colour combination of this one I’m sure will ticket a lot of boxes so we look forward to getting this one live for you all.

1997 Mercedes 280SL

Next up we have our Mercedes SL. Everyone loves an SL, and with the sun shining a lot at the moment, this makes for a perfect summer car. We’re now in the final preparation stages before filming later in the week.

We’ve swapped the wheels and fitted the spare from the boot. We’ve fitted the road wheel back onto the nearside front and torqued to 110nm.

Locking wheel nut returned to bag and placed on passenger side seat ready for the photo shoot later this week..

Remove both sun visors and disassemble. Jon has fitted new vanity mirrors and a king plate into position before fitting back in to car with new trims to cover the screws.

1993 Ford Escort XR3I

It’s one of those frustrating moments that happen all too often in our workshops, we’ve discovered rust and that means, we have more work to do. This time, it happened in the battery box area.

1987 Maserati BiTurbo

This is going to be one heck of a competition. We’ve personally owned our Maserati for a good number of years and it is truly stunning. We continue to work on refitting the newly bilt engine. We have routed the coolant pipes, lay manifold back in position and bolted in coolant fans.

Won’t be long and this will be available for competition. Someone will be getting an amazing classic here!

1978 MG Midget 1500

Double winner Richard will soon have the keys to his MG Midget, to sit comfortably beside his MG B. Before we can let it go we need to investigate a slight overheating issue.

The work consisted of draining the coolant before remove the radiator hoses and auxiliary parts. We now just have to wait for the new valve to arrive.

Meanwhile, we have adjust the driver’s door quarter light to match the screen angle so seal contacts properly.

The heater valve has now arrived so we have fitted this, connected the pipes and tested.

Pipes are all hot and gauge is reading normal. A few more days of testing but the car seems almost good to go. not long now Richard.

2002 Ducati 900SS

As I write this post, Tony is on his way to see John, winner of our 2002 Ducati 900SS with a nice little gift.

Last week, the media team took a trip to the peaks to meet with and feature some amazing businesses in our upcoming Driver magazine. Whilst there I visited the Pavilion Gardens in Buxton to attend the H&H Classic Auction and saw a familiar face! Our 1994 Rover 216 Cabriolet, won by James back in 2023 was one of the lots on the day, selling with no reserve. It looked just a good as the day it left us and I hope the new owner enjoys many years with it.

And whilst I was spending the day with the guys and girls at H&H Classics, Nick and Rob were visiting lots of amazing attractions around the area.

The full story will be available in the next edition of Driver along with our videos but for now, here’s a sneak peek…
