Jonn began repairs on our 1968 Austin Mini Cooper S by soldering a new sidelight bulb holder to the offside headlight wiring and fitting a new headlight connector. The system was then tested to confirm proper function. He proceeded to strip and fit a manual washer pump, priming the system and clearing blockages in the jets before successfully testing operation.

The coolant was drained, and new air filters were fitted, with the filter case properly resecured. New spark plugs were installed, and the lower radiator hose was refitted before the cooling system was refilled using a vacuum tool. The engine oil and filter were drained, and the filter housing was cleaned out before fitting a new filter and securing it to the engine. The sump bung was torqued, fresh oil was added, the engine was run and tested, and the oil level was topped up as needed. Brake fluid was also topped up during the process.

New HT leads were installed, the wheel nuts were torqued, and the wheel trims refitted. Jonn also investigated the heated rear window, which had been fitted but not wired in, as it was not an original equipment option. He found that wires had already been laid to the rear and proceeded to fit terminals and connect them, securing the earth point to the offside rear light mounting. Using a power probe to test the circuit, he confirmed the window was functioning correctly. A relay and switch have been ordered to complete the installation once they arrive.
