Our technician Jon has been applying the years of knowledge and experience he has in the preservation and restoration of classic cars to get the beautiful 1964 Daimler 250V8 back up and running as it should do. Here’s what Jon has been doing in his own words:

”Fit new thermostat and gasket. Refit housing and secure top hose with temp sender for fan inside. Carry out vacuum check, no loss of vacuum. Refit dynamator and adjust belt. Refit air filter and secure. Vac system again and leave to hold vac for a couple of minutes. Order more a antifreeze. Mix new antifreeze and refill system with vacuum tool. Check engine oil and take outside to warm up. Check and top up gearbox oil. Electric fancies in OK about 75 degrees C. Carry out road test approx 8 miles in different conditions. Brakes OK and don’t bind. Temp guage rise to between 80 and 90 and as it’s 30 degrees outside today this is acceptable. Temp guage didn’t go any higher whenleft to idle upon return. Fan runs for approx 5 mins upon switch off u til coolant temp drops below fan sensor threshold. Adjust idle speed and resecure interior mirror.”
