Recently, our restoration workshop got asked to head out to a customers house to check for a suspected fuel leak on a 1954 MG TF. Jon, along with our workshop director Anthony, arrived to look over the car with its owner.
‘Travel to customers address and inspect car for fuel leak. Signs of wetness on chassis rail but no leak. Turn ignition on and view underneath, no leak. Jack up and check fuel pump area. Start car and check. Still no signs of leak. Lower car and let customer take for a drive so I can recheck. No leak upon return. Suspect needle valves in carbs stuck when first started after 8 months and leaked out of the overflow pipes, now they’re free and sealed up. Told customer to periodically start and check and inform us of any issues. Return to workshop.’
