Jonn investigated a central locking fault on our 1991 Porsche 944 S2, where the system was not operating from the driver’s door. Testing the central locking button in the centre console confirmed that the system could successfully lock the car, and with the ignition on, it unlocked correctly as well. Functionality was also verified when locking from the passenger’s door, which led to a suspicion that the problem lay within the driver’s door mechanism.
Jonn proceeded to remove the door panel on the driver’s side for inspection. Upon stripping down the assembly, he discovered that the actuator rod had become detached from the lock. This was refitted securely, and the system was tested again. Central locking was then found to be working correctly from both doors and the centre console button. The door panel was reinstalled, and a final operational check confirmed everything was functioning as expected.
