Andrew Graves took delivery of his 1970 Jaguar E-Type Series 2, Garry Smith is the very happy owner of our 2010 Land Rover Defender 90, and Stephen Chesters can now drive our 2001 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage whenever he likes!

Land Rover Defender getting ready for new home

On Tuesday we called up Garry Smith to tell him the amazing news that he’s now the proud owner of our 2010 Land Rover Defender 90. Having been with us here at Bridge Classic Cars for a number of years this car was an exciting but emotional give away for us…especially me! This has been my daily now for a few years and I’ve loved it. I’ve been on many adventures in the Defender…camping, road trips. It even got me through the mud at this year’s Goodwood Revival.
But all good things have to come to an end and now it’s time for Garry to enjoy the car.
The pre delivery inspection has been completed and as I write this post, the car is currently on it’s way to Garry in the back of our trailer.
Our Defender Has Been Won – Behind The Scenes

Yesterday, Garry Smith was randomly selected as the lucky winner of our 2010 Land Rover Defender 90. His ticket number of 2534 was the one that made him the new owner of this off-roading beast.
During the live draw, we also found out that Richard Jones was the winner of our fast-selling Spitfire Gin with ticket number 177.

Land Rover Defender – preparing for competition

With the arrival of my new (old) Land Rover Defender 110 I have decided to hand my beloved 2010 Land Rover Defender 90 over to the competition team as a future giveaway. For some time now we’ve all been torn as to whether it goes as a competition. We originally purchased the Defender for that very reason but I became attached to it immediately so that made it difficult for me to part with it. Then we decided to add Bridge Classic Cars branding to it which in turn made it difficult for the marketing team to let go of it.
It looks amazing, fits perfectly with our brand so it’s become a brilliant tool for us and attended many of our summer shows in 2024.
The next decision I needed to make was whether to fit a new loc-and-fold seat in the rear so it became more practical for use with my family. Just as I was about to hit the button on the order I was offered a 2013 Land Rover Defender 110!
So my future plans changed…
Now the car is being prepared for competition. The Clarke yellow box in the back has been removed. It was always handy to have but was a bit of a pain as when fully opened it caught on the nice new back panelling we had installed so we’ve removed the box.
My plate HEZ350 has been removed and the car is now fitted with the original number.
As you can see, like all Defenders, the front screen pillar is starting to suffer from the harsh weather so a trip to the paint shop to be tided is next on the agenda.
The car was undersealed recently so is great underneath but some of the add-ons are starting to show signs of service wear so some attention will be paid to them too.
Then after that, the car will undergo a full and thorough detail so removed all signs of the branding and bring the car back up to the beautiful condition that it is.
Matching our Land Rover seats

Having searched high and low for information to help me match the material from my front seats, I have finally made a break through.
A chance conversation with the guys at LandyPart when my car was in for it’s MOT I found out that there are options on the market.
They suggested I have a chat with Exmoor Trim who apparently really know their stuff with regards to Land Rovers. Sure enough, they do. Jess got right back to me asking for pictures of my seats, she then told me exactly what material it was and that they can supply me with exactly what I want to fit out the back.
Next job, I need to remove the rear wooden box section to reveal the arches and we can then progress with my plans from there…
2024 Festival of Classic & Sports Cars set up and take down.

Set up began early for us on this year’s stand at the Festival of Classic & Sports Cars at Helmingham Hall Gardens. The week prior to the event was glorious sunshine all week and the forecast looked good going in to the weekend so with that in mind we started the installation of the stretch tent from our friends at Events Under Canvas on the Thursday. That meant we were able to start transporting our vehicles over to site and start to lay out the display.
It was certainly less hectic this year having time on our side and the centre tent was a new feature for us this year which was an exciting new addition.
Sunday morning was a bit of a breeze to be honest. A few banners and flags to put up and then we could sit down as a team, grab a coffee and enjoy the surroundings.
The day itself is always so busy at the show that you don’t really get time to enjoy what else is there. This year especially, I didn’t even get to leave the stand so I didn’t manage to see any of the cars on display but Nick, Molly and Rob got to enjoy it a bit more when they were out and about filming the show.

And after a full on day which was a huge success, I think the part that was truly quite special was being the last to leave the site after clearing down. I dropped Tamas back off by his car on the top field and then had the opportunity to look back at the incredible all. A few hours previous to these photos the fields were bustling with thousands of cars and spectators all enjoying the atmosphere.
The Festival of Classic & Sports Cars is one of the best shows of the year for us and this year was one of the best of all time. Thank you so much to the team at Helmingham and we are so proud to be a big part of this show and hope to continue our relationship for many years to come.

My Land Rover Defender is one of the best vehicles I have ever owned…at least that’s what I think right now.
Yes it’s industrial, yes it’s loud and bumpy but it’s great fun!
Having owned the car for a little while now I do my very best to keep on top of the general wear and tear that the Defender gets. I’ve sealed and treated the underside, I’ve corrected some paint imperfections, tidied a couple of areas in the rear compartment to make it more family friendly and less ‘workhorse’ and then recently I noticed that the centre hubs were starting to show signs of surface rust.
Not too big a job to fix and a huge difference to the overall kerb appeal. Great work from Mauro today, cleaning up the hubs and coating in a fresh layer of black DTM.
A Bold New Look – Revamping our 2010 Land Rover Defender

A few months ago our director, Craig, got a 2010 Land Rover Defender 90. Not only is it Craig’s everyday car but we’ve been using it for our events towards the end of the summer and into the winter.
Recently, we’ve had a our signature logo put onto the sides of this 4-wheel drive workhorse to promote the work we do when we’re out and about but also to show people at events that they have indeed come to the right place!
Along with that, the Bridge Classic Cars team have been carrying out a few repairs on the car and at the same time our amazing trimmer Lydia worked on making the cabin of the truck a little bit lighter with all new door and cab cards in a lighter coloured material. With this all done, it is now time for our truck to be out and about as we roll into the warmer months as well as our packed 2024 events calendar.

Our Defender

Our 2010 Land Rover Defender has been undergoing some work in the Bridge Classic Cars paintshop as Mauro has been painting the roof before polishing it too.
As well as the painted roof – for the rear panels, Craig chose a simple vinyl to match the existing interior colour, which really helped to brighten up the back of the vehicle as it was very dark. Lydia applied a thin scrim foam and then the vinyl, and stapled that to the back. She then refitted the panels and secured them with screws and cup washers. Lydia then had to refit the seat and the toolbox before Mauro helped her to attach the bolts to them.
Defender Improvements

The Bridge Classic Cars Defender has been having some work completed recently.
Lydia sanded off the sharp edges of the rear bench to avoid any future injury to passengers. She then sprayed the bare metal with black paint to finish.
While Lydia did this, Mauro primed the roof ready for paint.
Removing Interior Panels

Lydia removed the interior panels of our 2010 Land Rover Defender. The roof had to be removed for some bodywork to take place and the play lining in the rear was removed so it could be covered.
The Bridge Defender

Since it has been in the workshop, it has proven itself to be a true workhorse, so we had no choice but to make it a Bridge vehicle.
Now that it is all branded up, you might just see it on the road soon.
Festive Car Show

What a way to end a year of fantastic events at Bridge Classic Cars! Despite the cold and wet weather, festive spirits were not dampened. The turn out was great with lots of you coming along for food and drink. Our Molly kept us entertained with vintage tunes and Christmas classics with The Three Chordettes singing throughout the day.
Some brave souls ventured out with their classics which was great to see and it was lovely to speak to so many of you as you warmed yourself with coffee and mulled wine.
This event just about wraps up our events for the year, we have got lots planned for 2024 and we can’t wait to see you there.
And it was one of the first outings for our newly branded Bridge Classic Cars Defender. A perfect advertising board parked up outside our gates.

Paint Repairs

The Bridge Classic Cars paintshop has been the home of our 2010 Land Rover Defender for the last few days. During its stay, classic car technician Chris has been repairing some areas of the paintwork.
In addition to some of these repairs, Chris also painted the chequer plates and made a new step to help get in and out of the vehicle. The front bumper was also improved and, as you can see from the photos below, our Defender is already looking great.

A Defender Arrives

Our 2010 Land Rover Defender has recently arrived in the Bridge Classic Cars workshop and it looks great!
This will likely be a competition car at some point in the future but, for now at least, it will go through an inspection and assessment, have some minor changes made to it, and stay in our collection.
Defenders are usually very popular here so we are excited to see this one be improved before eventually going to its new home.

For now, the plan is for it to join our personal collection but, after its initial inspection and assessment with our team of classic car technicians, a definitive plan of action for the future will be created.
