The 1967 Alvis TF21 has been under the careful hands of our technician Jon. With a list of checks and maintenance checks for the team to carry out on the classic British GT he could do a light and level check before carrying out a road test to check for a few customer concerns.
‘Raise and continue inspection tion. Grease all points. Check rear axle oil. Remove wheels and check . Check brakes. Remove air filter housing from nearside front inner wing. Split case and remove filters. Check and inflate tyres. Grease hubs and refit wheels. Knock up wheels tight. Finish appraisal and write parts list. Strip carbs and remove pistons and suction chambers. Start at rear carb.’
‘Clean and blow out carb body. Set jet depths and free off each lifting pin. Rebuild and oil dampers. Finish all 3 carbs and run up. Runs better already. Raise car and run up. Go through gears and then in ‘L’ check automatic gearbox oil level. Top up and recheck ok. Refit centre console cover and carpet. Check stop lights not working. Remove wires and short out. Lights work. Reconnect and test and they now work via switch.’
