Brakes, Clutch Slave and Fuel Pump on the 1972 MGB Roadster

Will, one of our restoration technicians here at Bridge Classic Cars HQ, has been working his way through recommissioning the 1972 MGB Roadster in our workshop. This phase of the reawakening of the classic convertible involved work on the brakes, clutch slave and fuel pump.

‘Fit new clutch slave cylinder replace pin with bolt, fit new rear brake shoes both sides and adjust up, move caliper pistons back manually, attempt to replace Flexi brake line on rear of car could not undo to start with, fit front left brake disc, Fit front left brake caliper, new pads and clean up accessories, fit new disc on front right side and fit refreshed caliper on with new pads and clean up ancillaries, fit new Flexi hoses both sides, Replace air filters, clean air filter housings out, clean up plate that sit n carbs fit new filters, replace Flexi brake hose on rear of car by drilling nut and splitting it off then replace with new hose, replace fuel pump on car, replace coach bolts on rear bumper, bleed brakes up.’

‘Attempt to bleed clutch but not drawing any fluid through and decide it was faulty master cylinder remove stuck bolts holding master cylinder panel on, remove pin connecting master cylinder to pedal, remove bulk head panel to remove master cylinder bolts with help because of limited access, remove banjo bolt on master cylinder and remove master cylinder, Do full engine service, replace oil and oil filter, replace spark plugs and gap new spark plugs, check diff fluid level, remove center console panel and panel holding radio in, to get to gearbox dip stick replaced inline fuel filter, replace corroded fuel line, clear up oil and dispose of waste oil.’
