There isn’t normally a day that goes by where we either welcome or say goodbye to a classic car at our Suffolk HQ. Our technicians are always busy with someones pride and joy on their ramp, working their skill and a little bit of magic to get them just right. This morning we welcome a […]
Our 1985 Mercedes 500SL has been undergoing some pretty extensive electrical work to address various issues and improve functionality:
After being won through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions, a pre-delivery inspection (PDI) was carried out on our 1978 MG Midget, and several tasks were completed: During a road test, it was observed that the speedometer was not working, and the engine occasionally coughed under acceleration. Upon returning to the workshop, a fuel leak was identified […]
Our 2002 Ford Thunderbird underwent modifications to comply with UK specifications, in preparation for its MOT. The lighting system was rewired by Jonn to ensure the indicators display amber lights, and the stop lights no longer flash in conjunction with the indicators.
Our 1976 Jensen Interceptor recently underwent brake maintenance. Photographs were taken to document the condition of the brakes before and after cleaning. New metal brake pipes were fitted as part of the process. The components were thoroughly cleaned and assessed for functionality. The interior has also had some attention from Lydia.
Our 1975 Volkswagen Beetle has been with Jonn undergoing several repairs and adjustments: The nearside window regulator was replaced. The replacement part differed slightly from the original, requiring modifications: The vehicle was then raised on a ramp, and the wheels were removed to inspect the brakes. Both front brake cylinders were found to be leaking […]
Our 1978 Triumph Stag has been moved into storage and placed in a protective bubble. The vehicle has also been connected to a charger to maintain battery health.
Tony transported our 1977 Triumph 2500TC to our secure storage facility. Upon arrival, the car was placed in a protective storage bubble to ensure it remained in the best possible condition and was connected to a charger to maintain the battery.

We recently welcomed our 1960 MG Midget into the Bridge Classic Cars workshop. It will now begin its restoration journey with the workshop team.
Steve recently identified a fuel leak originating from the electrical terminal of the cold start solenoid of our 1964 Mercedes 230SL. This component plays a crucial role in aiding the engine’s start-up, especially in colder conditions, by delivering a precise amount of extra fuel during ignition. Unfortunately, attempts to reseal the solenoid were unsuccessful. Given […]
We don’t see modern cars in the Bridge Classic Cars workshop very much but, recently, a friend of ours brought their beautiful 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrafoglio in for some new tyres.
The customer reported a few issues with our 1985 Mercedes 500SL, and Pete confirmed most of them during a test drive: Lighting Issues While the external lights are fully operational, there were a few concerns with internal and auxiliary lighting: Heated Seats The heated seat switches are non-functional. They’ve completely collapsed in their housing, rendering […]
Pete has made some good progress with out 1993 Jaguar XJS recently. He fitted seatbelt clips with covers, using a mix of old and new parts to create these, as they are an extremely rare item to come by, whether new or used. Pete also ensured the window switch bezel is now sitting correctly after […]
Classic car technician Steve has been conducting his initial check and assessment of our 1976 Jensen Interceptor. His findings will now be reported back to the owner.
Pete removed the very tired old shocks on our 1977 Ford Granada and replaced them with new Gaz adjustable units. The old shocks had very little damping effect and could easily be compressed by hand, while the new units should significantly improve the car’s ride quality. He also removed the power steering rack for refurbishment, […]
Rob has been repairing some of the corrosion on our 1963 Rover P4. He welded in the front wheel arch closing panel before removing the front chassis outrigger. He then repaired the chassis behind the outrigger and fitted a new one. Next, he cut away corrosion from the rear wheel arch and C-post area to […]
Jonn removed the fuel filter of our 1968 Lotus Cortina and cleaned it thoroughly before refitting and securing it. He turned on the ignition to check for leaks and discovered that the rear carburettor was leaking at the fuel union. After tightening and retesting, the issue was resolved. He then fitted a new wheel trim […]
Jonn has been working on our 1975 Volkswagen Beetle. He started by stripping and removing the nearside window regulator, which was found to be worn out. He fitted a larger washer to secure the nearside seat trim and painted it black for a clean finish. He also secured the nearside door mirror. Jonn then undid […]
Pete has been removing the AC condenser on our 1993 Jagura XJS. It proved to be quite tricky getting the old collapsed unit from the car and freeing all the seized pipes and fittings The new part was incorrect so we have now sourced the correct one. While Pete was working, he swapped the auxiliary […]
Jonn has been completing some repair work on our 1977 Triumph 2500TC. He began by getting the car onto the ramp and raising it up so he could get a detailed look at the work that needed to be done. After removing the rear wheels, he connected the offside rear brake pipe to the flexi […]
Steve has fitted a new kingpin to the assembly on our 1964 Mercedes 230SL. He also fitted new top and bottom joints, and new bushes too. Our 1968 Lotus Cortina has only been here in the Bridge Classic Cars workshop for a relatively short period of time. However, Jonn has already completed various tasks to get it ready to go into competition. Here are Jonn’s notes about what he has been doing: Heater matrix back from repair. Stick foam to edges […]
Our 1964 Mercedes 230SL has been in the experienced hands of classic car technician Steve. New rear wheel cylinders have now been fitted as the old ones were corroded […]
Dave has recently been extremely busy with our 1969 Audi 70L. The car needed to be completely stripped down for the rest of the work required to be completed. Once Dave had finished stripping our Audi, the car moved on to the next stage of paint stripping and welding repairs where required.
While out on our Mince Pie Drive, the driver’s door release cable snapped on our 1961 Austin Mini 850. Once it had finished helping us spread some festive cheer to local care homes, Jonn repaired the cable and it is now back as good as new!
John has made and fitted new down pipes to our 1964 Mercedes 230SL. This is because the old ones had to be cut off as they had seized. New baulk head sound deadening was fitted before John investigated the non-starting issue. He went through the wiring and traced the fault to the timer relay on […]
It was noted from the appraisal that our 1993 Jaguar XJS had a faulty gearbox mount. Pete recently removed it from the car and stripped it down to its component parts. The rubber had completely degraded and was very much beyond service. The steel parts were degreased and shotblasted before being primed and top coated […]
Our friends at Wheelhouse Alloys recently delivered the wheels to our 2002 Ford Thunderbird.
