On Sunday 9th June we were delighted to open the doors of The Classic Lounge for the first time to welcome the local BMW club for a takeover. They had a pre-launch preview of the brand new space! They were able to enjoy the facilities and refreshments set against the backdrop of a spectrum of cars.
About 13 BMW cars were in attendance and looked fabulous lined up in the sunshine. The group visited us en route to Snape Maltings and Dunwich. Lily gave them a tour of our workshops and current projects as well as an exclusive viewing of our brand new Atelier. This space is now an extension of our workshop and will be the re-assembly area for cars before hey are returned to their owners.
If you would like to bring your classic car club along like the BMW Club Takeover contact Lily at events@bridgeclassiccars.co.uk
It was another fantastic year at the Suffolk Show with so many things to see and do. The weather was, as always is with the season, ever changing with blissful sunshine, gusty winds and torrential downpours. The freak weather is almost like a tradition and always to be expected.
This was the first year we had our very own stand and we were very pleased with how everything came together. We had lots of seating to create a cosy area to relax in and Suffolk Plant Centre were kind enough to lend us some plants to make the space look more inviting. Our efforts paid off because we were lucky enough to win the award for the Best Motor Stand.
We took four very different vehicles with us that meant there was something for everyone. Our Bridge branded Defender was the first thing you saw and was very popular among those most interested in all things agriculture. We also had our TR7 which was won last week, this car sparked many memories for a lot of guests. Our 2011 Morgan 4/4 was also showcased, people were very impressed with the condition of the car and low mileage. Nobody could decide whether, if they were the lucky winner, they would leave the car in storage for a year or drive it. Finally we had our 1954 Daimler Conquest, this really drew in the crowds as many said they had never seen one like it before.
The rest of the show was brilliant with so much to see. There were various horse displays as well as other livestock being paraded for the opportunity to win rosettes. There were also lots of food stalls really showing the farm to fork journey. It was a great chance to see the ITFC iconic trophy up close and in person.
Planning for next year’s event has already begun and we can’t wait to return.
Today we were visited by Mr & Mrs Ewen, they were just passing en-route from Kent to Lowestoft. Their son Daniel was lucky enough to win our 1973 Audi 100 Coupe S last year and they have been avid followers ever since.
Lily was able to take them into our new venue, The Classic Lounge and show them where all of our home events will take place as well as provide them with refreshments.
Daniel has gone on to sell the Audi that he won but is now the very proud owner of a Porsche as it’s replacement!
We are delighted to announce the official launch of The Classic Lounge at Bridge Classic Cars, which also includes the launch of our brand new Members’ Club. This exclusive, invite-only event promises to be an evening of celebration, good company, and beautiful classic cars.
The night will begin with a champagne reception, and canapรฉs will be served throughout the night as we open the doors of The Classic Lounge for the very first time. There will also be live music from Miss Leeloo Saxophonist.
Some of the Bridge Classic Cars team will be there, keen to share this very special occasion with our esteemed guests. Among the attendees will be influential figures from the automotive world and beyond, as we bring our old friends and new together.
This event not only marks the launch of The Classic Lounge but also celebrates the beginning of the Bridge Classic Cars Members Club. Our members will enjoy a wide range of benefits and events designed to enhance their passion for classic cars.
We look forward to welcoming you to an evening of celebration, friendship, and shared success.
Every year the Ipswich Transport Museum runs an event that sees 500 cars drive in convoy from Christchurch Park in Ipswich all the way to Felixstowe seafront where they park up for the afternoon. The entire journey is through streets lined with people all waiting to catch a glimpse of their favourite classic, for many families in the area this has become somewhat of a tradition through the generations.
There are a few rules when it comes to the display cars, they must be pre-1994, not modified and road legal. Several of the Bridge Classic Cars team went along to see this years offerings and they were not disappointed. The variety of cars is always astounding. Here is last years visit for even more photographs.
Since 1966, Hethel (a quiet part of Norfolk) has been home to the development of some of the most exciting and innovative cars of our time.
The Bridge Classic Cars team have organised a very special trip to Hethel to experience, first-hand, what goes on at the Lotus factory. You will get to see the entire production process up close as well as pay a visit to the test track where the Lotus cars are signed off as ready to go.
We will tour the factory, led by a knowledgeable Lotus product specialist to see the end-to-end build process, from bare chassis to completed sports car. We will then head to the local pub, The Bird in Hand for lunch and drinks (not included in price).
After lunch, we move on to a tour of Classic Team Lotus – a bespoke operation just across the road from the main Lotus HQ, itโs a separate business thatโs dedicated to preserving and promoting the Lotus racing legend.
This is a fantastic opportunity to see a unique collection that includes some of the most historically significant race cars ever.
“Experience, first-hand, the production process. Witness the track, where the class-leading sports cars are put through their paces. Walk in the footsteps of the F1 greats, who so admirably filled the Lotus trophy cabinet.”
ยฃ140 per person – members will receive a 20% discount*

Good morning,
Are there still any spaces for the Lotus visit on Thursday?
Looking for 1 ticket but possibly two.,.especially if there is any last minute cheeky discount ?
Thank you. for your time.
Hi James,
There certainly are tickets left. Unfortunately, no last-minute discounts are planned but it would be great to see you there. It’s going to be a fantastic day!

We had some very exciting post today, our passes and pitch information for the Suffolk Show 2024 arrived. We are really looking forward to returning this year, this time with our own stand!
The Suffolk Show is a well established event having been running for a long time, it has been on its current site since 1960! The event always showcases the very best of local agriculture and produce including live animals. The two day event features many shows including horse events, prize cattle and sheep shearing. There are hands on activities for all the family as well as plenty of corporate stands to show you just what the county has to offer. Many industries are present, the emergency and armed services are always in attendance. You just need to keep your fingers crossed for sensible weather.
The Bridge Classic Car stand will of course feature our classic cars as well as many team members who are excited to meet you. It will be a great opportunity to discuss any restoration questions and to tell you about our new exclusive members club. We look forward to seeing you all at Suffolk Show 2024.

Another year of Drive It Day, another brilliant turnout. Unlike last year, the weather remained dry and bright. There was a massive variety of cars spanning the eras, from pre-war to more modern fast Fords. We were delighted to welcome the Lowestoft Car Club as well as members from many other local classic car clubs. Some of our guests travelled great distances to be with us, including a 1960s Aston Martin which was an absolute show stopper, this was driven all the way from Clapham.
Prestige Catering returned and provided a tasty array of Mediterranean food which went down well. Lots of guests were kind enough to donate towards the fundraising efforts for NSPCC, this is what this event is all about. All in all it was a lovely day.
On Thursday 11th April it was a beautiful evening for the MG Owners Club to takeover our Atelier for their own exclusive event. The warm weather and late sunset marked the start of summer feelings and a fleet of classic MGs arrived early evening.
Some of the guests in attendance were familiar faces however there were lots of new people experiencing Bridge Classic Cars for the first time. Rio expertly parked them outside and managed to capture some brilliant footage of all the cars which can be seen on our YouTube channel and Lily was behind the bar and responsible for the workshop tour. There were lots of current projects visible for the MGOC to see and learn about.
The current bar was a temporary fix ahead of our relocation to our exciting new events premises next door, all of the guests on the evening have promised to return once we are up and running. All in all it was a great evening.
The Riley Cars Archive Heritage Trust are holding their Spring Event at the Coventry Canal Basin on Saturday 13th April 2024 to display a selection of Riley cars. Bridge Classic Cars are proud to be presenting our 1905 Riley 9hp alongside a fine display of other Riley vehicles.

Last weekend we all got to celebrate Molly from Bridge Classic Cars 30th Birthday at The Botanist in Ipswich. The surprise event was planned and beautifully executed by Molly’s mum and sister. The whole team got glammed up and headed into town for the occasion. The drinks flowed and the buffet was delicious, it was great to all have a catch up outside of work. Happy birthday Mol!
We had a lovely morning on Sunday at our very first Autojumble, the morning dawn bright but very cold. We were delighted to see half a dozen stall holders come along to display and also to welcome lots of you to our Atelier. The hot drinks were flowing and it was delightful to see some new and familliar faces.
We also welcomed a few new members to the team this weekend, it is lovely to have them on board. Rio was resident photographer for the morning and snapped some great shots.

The team are looking forward to attending the Classic Car & Restoration Show at the Birmingham NEC. We will be on the Riley stand with our 1905 Riley 9hp which has been restored to it’s former glory by our team of technicians. Craig, Nick and Gordon will be wandering around the show as well as attending the auction. Please do say hello if you spot us.
In February our Riley 9hp underwent the next stage of its restoration by paying a visit to Joby Carter’s workshop in Berkshire.
Joby Carter is a traditional sign writer who is an expert in fairground style art. Up until 2022 his work could be seen decorating every ride as part of his touring steam fair. He has documented many of his creations alongside tips and ideas in a series of books.
In accordance with vehicles of a similar age, Carter was commissioned by Bridge Classic Cars to paint our Riley 9hp with a neat design. The pristine line work edges the shapes and contours of the car, outlining the doors. The sleek likes create an elegant and opulent aesthetic.
Molly and Craig are excited to attend H&H auctions on Wednesday 13th March at IWM Duxford Airfield. The auction itself is set against the impressive backdrop of air crafts and classic vehicles, the Bridge Classic Cars team have attended previously and have found it a successful outing. We are hoping to find some high quality classics to purchase as competition cars, you never know what we might find.
On Sunday 25th February we set out in convoy through the Suffolk countryside, the day was warm, sunny and spring was in the air. We had an intimate convoy that headed out together in search for sustenance. The Ship Inn in Levington kindly hosted us and ensured we could all sit together in a cosy side room. The fire roared and the food was great. Such a wonderful time spent building our local car community.
The Classic Lounge will be opening its doors for an exclusive event for the Norfolk and Suffolk branches of the BMW Car Club. The bar will be open for hot and cold drinks and a workshop tour will take place. This is a private event, contact the club for more information.
If you would like to bring your club along for an exclusive event or to join one of our public events, contact Lily on events@bridgeclassiccars.co.uk

Lily & Rob are excited to be heading to Venue 16 in Ipswich for a networking event. They look forward to meeting other people working in the local area with the hopes of possible future collaborations.
Starting at Christchurch Park in Ipswich before travelling to Felixstowe Seafront, the rally is organised by the Ipswich Transport Museum and has been an annual event for many years and is always extremely well attended.
The Bridge Classic Car’s team can’t wait to go to Christchurch Park and meet this years participants to learn more about their cars.
Thank you to all of you who turned out to attend our New Year’s Car Meet on Sunday, it was a cold but dry morning and we were astounded by the variation in cars. We had nearly 200 visitors with a variety of cars, some over a century old to modern daily drivers.
The Atelier Bar was open for hot drinks and pastries and we offered bacon sandwiches with delicious bacon from E W Revett & Sons Butchers, based just down the road in Wickham Market, and fresh bread from our friends at The Bakehouse Bakery Woodbridge.
Events like this display the comradery amongst the local classic car community with people swapping stories and advice about their experience with classic and modern cars.
On Saturday 16th December, I headed off to our capital city to take in the festive sights and Christmas lights. Whilst in London I paid a visit to my favourite museum, the V&A in Kensington. Filled to the brim with different cultures, art and antiquities, the whole place is a feast for your eyes and your mind. In addition to their regular exhibits the Victoria and Albert museum often play host to temporary installations. Though these vary widely, a fond favourite seems to be the ones that relate to fashion, including this one about Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel.
The current exhibition, Gabrielle Chanel: Fashion Manifesto, is an excellent example of this. The collection is expansive and documents the rise of Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel right from the start. Each item of clothing is beautifully displayed in order for you to see the attention to detail applied within the construction of each garment. Every sequin glints and every pristine hem is preserved to perfection. The accompanying copy with each item is informative and well presented, I enjoyed myself immensely.
Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel was born in Saumur, France in 1883. She had an impoverished start but managed to make a name for herself. By the early 20th century she had become well established within the industry. She was best known in the early days for her millinery and tailored garments befitting of the era. Moving into the 1920’s she began creating trendsetting silhouettes that challenged societal norms and did away with the constraints of fashions from decades past. Her clothing adorned with glistening beads and eye-catching sequins displayed risque hemlines and plunging backs. She created jewellery which blended precious stones into costume-style settings, allowing the rich to flaunt their adornments whilst leaving the real heirlooms at home. Chanel was also known for her cosmetics and fragrances, with much of her iconic branding remaining unchanged even now. I made sure I was wearing Chanel No. 5 for my trip!
Coco Chanel became synonymous with the Little Black Dress. In 1926 American Vogue even described it as being the Ford of the fashion world meaning it was an accessible style to all. Chanel’s style was distinctive and classic whilst still challenging the designers that preceded her. She became a celebrity in her own right and even made it fashionable to catch a suntan for the first time ever!
In 1939 the outbreak of war meant that Chanel had to close her couture house, at this point she remained in Nazi-German occupied France. She was seen to be having relations with Gunther Von Dinklage, a Nazi officer. Her relationship, coupled with her friendship with Winston Churchill, earned her the code name ‘Westminster.’ After the war she was interrogated over her involvement but was never charged however, this affiliation cast a shadow over the Chanel brand that remains even to this day.
After the war, Chanel moved to Switzerland and didn’t return to Paris until the 1950’s. On her return she once more began to create iconic, luxury clothing and accessories. Many of her designs during this era can still be frequently seen inspiring contemporary fashion. Her tailoring and bag designs are timeless. She continued designing until her death in 1971 aged 87. The Chanel brand remains prevalent and influential to this day.
