Our technician Jon has been working his way through the 1952 MG YA. To begin with, Jon carried out a road test of the car to start his now famous ‘list’. Once back, Jon could get the car up on the ramp to begin inspecting the chassis for any corrosion and also to inspect all of the running gear. Before moving on to carrying out some repairs.
‘Finish appraisal and start repairs. Look into clutch pedal adjustment but floor has to be removed so leave till tomorrow when off ramp. Investigate lights not working. Reverse light wiring joined next to gearbox so if wire live light should be on permanently but they are not. Check for switch inside. Found switch under dash but it’s wired to ignition and fuel pump.‘
‘Repair rear lights before continuing with reverse lights. Remove rear lenses and replace nearside stop and tail bulb and clean connections to offside number plate light and test. Refit lenses. Check reverse light wiring. No continuity from connecter under bonnet to reverse wiring underneath.’
