Our workshop always has something different going on. This time, our workshop have been working on the 1947 Morris 8 to check over and carry out some much needed repairs to get it ready for a new owner.
”Carry out appraisal. Start on floor. Put battery on charge, 6v. Raise on ramp and continue. Replace grease nipples where required and fully grease up.”
‘Check rear axle oil etc. Remove all wheels and inspect tyres. Strip each brake in turn. Clean and inspect and check free movement and operating. Clean and refit drum and adjust. Repeat for all rakes. Refit wheels and inflate tyres. Lowerto ground and torque up wheels and refit Tim’s. Lube and work sunroof back and forth. Remove drivers mirror and tighten. Refit and secure.’
‘Remove old bolt from nearside bonnet hinge and replace with new nut and bolt. Look into horn switch fault. Switch broken. Remove switch. Short out wiring and check horn works, ok. Start tidying wiring under dash.’
‘Sort out washers. Offside jet insecure. Tap out nut to 1/4″unc to fit jet. Enlarge hole under scuttle so I can secure jet with socket. Route pipes and test. Prime system from bottle end and I can see fluid moving. Continue to tidy wiring under dash.’
‘Fit new inline fuel filter and clips. Attend to head studs that appear to be weeping around threads. Remove each one in turn. Cleansed, nut and washer. Fit copper washer and apply sealant. Refit nut and torque to spec. Repeat for each weepy stud.’
‘Remove spark plugs and blow out cylinders. Clean and regap plugs and refit. Strip carb. Remove piston and suction chamber clean and inspect. Check cold start function and free movement of the jet.’
