A recent new addition to the Bridge Classic Cars restoration HQ is this 1998 TVR Chimaera. Our restoration technician Jon has been working his way through the appraisal and repairs on the car.
”Carry out appraisal and start repairs as i go.. Tighten steering UJ’s. Make small plate to fit behind rear exhaust mount to space away from floor. Tighten all clamps and brackets at rear and fit mount. Put flat blade screwdriver in car to remove wheel centre caps as tool missing and put a tyre repair gel in boot.”

”Tighten both rear anti-roll bar links. Check both axle and gearbox levels, ok. Check tyres and remove wheels and check brakes. De rust rear discs. Strip nearside front track rod end andfit new rubber. Refit and secure. Tighten track rod end lock nuts. Refit wheels, inflate tyres and torque wheel nuts. Refit centre caps. Lube window runners and operate windows. Try when engine running and getting a good power supply. Check interior light. Tighten connectionsand test. OK, so refit. Check dash lighting working. Found switch under dash turned off. All working now. Investigate mirrors not working. Remove drivers door speaker for access, but can’t find relay so door panel has to be removed.”

”Continue repairs. Investigate mirrors not working. Remove footwell carpet and trim nearside. Check fuse OK. Go back inside door and make sure wires are all connected. Test mirrors with ignition on and they now work. Slowly and not in all directions but they do move in and out. Refit door speaker. Check starter and battery. Starter seems to just click a few times before eventually turning over. Put battery on charge. Check again and it turns over every time. Leave battery on charge for a few hours.”
