All Coming Together with our 1969 Audi 70L

With all systems go on the 1969 Audi 70L project here at the Bridge Classic Cars HQ, our restoration team have shifted into top gear and the progress is moving at a furious pace. Lead technician on the project, Dave, has been working through the car meticulously and carefuly to ensure the very best fit and finish for the rare, classic German saloon.

‘Stripped both headlights apart cleaned inside and out, cleaned glass and fitted back together. Fitted new headlight bulbs and new sidelight bulbs. Fitted nearside headlight, had problems with offside headlight and had to remove some parts of front grill to get headlight to fit properly, refitted grill and headlight trims. Fitted new release bearing to gearbox and fitted new clutch to flywheel, greased spigot bearing. Removed seat belts for cleaning, removed sill trims x for carpets to be fitted.

Repaired and polished second hand front wing trim, filed out holes in front wings, fitted new trim clips and fitted trims, filed out holes in offside front front door fitted trim, realined clutch and fitted gearbox to engine, refitted up brakes to gearbox. Removed front wheels and undersealed under wheel arches.

Finished off undersealing front wheel arches, demasked, fitted offside front indicator. Cleaned off overspray off loom under bonnet rerouted wiring. Screwed earth leads in place. Removed rear lights cut down old wing trim and fitted between rear lights, refitted lights. Modified door trim clips and fitted last door trim to offside front door. Sorted out all possible engine mounts. Sorted out new bolts and cutting size, started bolting up engine mounts ready to fit engine.

Fitted seat belts, painted and fitted brake lines to front calipers. Fitted engine and gearbox into car. Started making template for offside engine mount.

Tapped out threads in door hinges cleaned up bolts, fitted both rear doors. Stripped down brake master cylinder, sandblasted body, cleaned up switch and all internal moving parts, washed out reservoir and filter. Ready for rebuilding.

Cleaned and painted master cylinder, rebuilt master cylinder and fitted. Removed old brake pipes around, removed old Unions Cleaned up and made up new brake pipes all round and fitted
