Kinetiz has won the inaugural A2RL SIM-Sprint series, narrowly beating TUM by just four points in a very competitive virtual championship.
After four races across digital versions of Suzuka, Yas Marina Circuit, and the purpose-built Autonodrome, the final results saw Kinetiz on 78 points, with second-place TUM finishing on 74.
Virtual Racing For Real World Development
The SIM-Sprint series was designed to fast-track the development of AI driving algorithms ahead of A2RLโs real-world season finale, taking place on 15th November 2025 at Yas Marina Circuit. Across four races, teams faced a wide range of track scenarios and edge cases, helping them refine their code in a controlled, competitive environment. The ultimate aim was to prepare the EAV-25 autonomous racecars for real-world speeds of up to 186mph.

Autonomous Racing
The teams in the SIM-Sprint didnโt just race by seeing who could go faster; they strategised, exploited grey areas in the rulebook, and pushed the limits of what was permitted. Throughout the series, stewards issued penalties for collisions, responded to formal protests, and investigated contentious incidents, including a clash between Kinetiz and TUM in the final round.
As a result, the SIM-Sprintโs ruleset went through five different updated versions. Each change was designed to close loopholes and maintain the integrity of the competition, all while reinforcing the values of fair play and mutual respect.

With the virtual series now finished, all eyes now turn to the Yas Marina Circuit, where the same AI systems will take on the real-world challenge in November.
