Ineos Automotive has issued a recall to thousands of its Grenadiers due to a defect in the exterior door handles. The release buttons on these handles can remain depressed after closing, potentially causing doors to open unexpectedly while driving. This issue stems from insufficient grease application during assembly.
In the United States, over 7,000 Grenadier SUVs produced between July 6th, 2023, and April 19th, 2024, are affected. Ineos will replace the faulty door mechanisms free of charge. In the UK, while no official recall has been announced, Ineos plans to address the defect during routine maintenance for affected vehicles. Owners are advised to ensure doors are securely closed before driving and to contact Ineos for further information.
This recall adds to Ineos Automotive’s recent challenges, including a temporary production halt last year due to a supplier’s insolvency and a reported pre-tax loss of £1.1 billion in 2023.
