More progress has been made on Craig’s 1987 Mercedes 500SL as Jonn has continued his work on it.

He began by raising the car off the ground to access the rear axle and subframe. The rear axle was stripped down, and wheel chocks were positioned to secure it. The mounting components were removed, and the vehicle was raised further while leaving the rear axle assembly supported on stands. Once stabilised, the rear axle was carefully transferred to the main workshop, where the disassembly process started.

Jonn then addressed the misalignment of the heater, which was caused by the scuttle being incorrectly positioned during welding. The heater box was stripped down and removed to allow access. The scuttle drains, which had been welded in the wrong way, were cut off and ground flat to correct the issue. Modifications were made to the heater brackets to ensure proper alignment. The top half of the heater was then refitted to check its position and ensure accuracy.
