The strip down of our 1978 Mercedes 350SL included the removal of various components, ranging from the bumpers to the centre console. The offside door was documented during disassembly, while the nearside door was handled by Steve. Alongside the removal of parts, the window regulator catches, and other door components were thoroughly cleaned. The door handles, along with other brightwork elements, were dismantled in preparation for chroming. All cleaned parts were carefully bubble-wrapped and stored.

As the vehicle was dismantled, a list was compiled of all parts requiring replacement. Repairs were carried out where necessary, including work on the window tracks, as documented in the accompanying images. Additionally, the ashtray was sandblasted and repainted.

The nearside window runner had corroded at one of the fixing points so Steve cut this back and welded in a new section.
