The Tudor Rose Dragster was first built in 1967 by two men called Dennis Priddle and Rex Sluggett. They put in a big, powerful engine known as a Keith Black 426 Hemi. This type of engine was made to go extremely fast!
In 1968, the Tudor Rose raced for the first time at Santa Pod in England and, from that day on, it went very fast a lot!
Fast and Full of History
The Tudor Rose Dragster has had lots of different parts and people working on it over the years. Engines were swapped, new wheels added, and it even got a new coat of paint In the 1980s. It also got a huge new engine from an American car brand called Chevy.
In at least one race, it covered a quarter mile (that’s about the length of 4 football pitches) in just 8.74 seconds at over 156 miles per hour.
A Big Return
In 2022, a team of builders and mechanics brought the Tudor Rose back to life. They cleaned it up, fixed everything, and gave it a new look. Now it looks just like it did in the olden days but with even more power!
