Oil leak on Vauxhall Omega

Dave is now looking into possible reasons for why the engine on our Vauxhall Omega is leaking. He is currently in the process of replacing the Dowty washers and seals on the oil cooler. There also appears to be a leak coming from the front pulley so this will also need investigating.

Creaky steering and wiper blade paint job!

Having had the steering rack refitted last week following it’s recent rebuild the car had developed a slight creaking sound whilst driving slowly over bumps.

Back in the workshops for further investigation showed one of the bolts had loosened itself so this has now been tightened and is awaiting a test drive. We hope this has resolved the issue.

Whilst in, we took the opportunity to remove the wiper blade and arm to have it blasted and painted.

The reason for this was that a slight dink in the original paint had started to progress into a bit of peeling.

Rather than it getting any worse, we have stripped it, repainted the arm to tidy up and prevent any further wear from happening.

Coming soon: if red is not your thing, you may want to look away!

We have an exciting line up of cars coming in within the next couple of weeks. Here are just some of the ones we are scheduled to collect very soon. See if you can notice the pattern…

First up, the 1964 Triumph TR4.

The, we move on to our appreciating classic, certainly one to look out for in the future, our 1992 Toyota MR2.

Then we have our 1972 Triumph Spitfire, picked up earlier today. More updates on all of the above plus lots more coming soon…

Lastly! Is this 1975 Rover 2200SC that will be arriving at the Bridge Classic Cars workshop very soon. This car will be assessed by the team and you’ll see more about it here on the Bridge Classic Cars blog.

Honda gets shiny!

Pricey has been repairing one of the rear sides of the Honda Integra.

First of all, he welded a new inner arch, grinded it and then dressed it up. He then went on to fabricate the inner wheel arch. Next, was to clean surface corrosion off the outer wheel arch and treat it, panel beat out any damage, and prime with zinc.

The inner sills needed repairing as well, the sill closing and middle sill both had corrosion, and the lower sill panel had jack damage and corrosion. He welded and fabricated them all before going back in.

Honda Integra Type R In For Work

This 1998 Honda Integra Type R has come in today to have some paintwork attended to. We’re removing the engine and gearbox to be able to sandblast and paint corroded under bonnet bracketry and weld in new metal to replace parts lost to corrosion.

We’re also refurbishing the wheels and replacing 4 bolsters on the front seats.

Behind The Scenes: Mercedes CL 600

The team headed over to Bentwaters recently to shot our Mercedes CL600, our recent competition car. Although an overcast day, the lighting was perfect to capture the sheer light interior trim which contrasts with the mahogany beautifully. The paint, which is a subtle pale blue silver, sparkled under the light.

Mercedes CLK200 In For Paint

We will occasionally get in cars that push the term ‘classic’. This 2006 Mercedes CLK 200 isn’t quite classic status but its certainly on its way to being a modern classic at 15 years old. This lovely red convertible has come in for some paint and dent corrections on the front bumper and rear quarter panel upper wheel arch.

Jaguar XK8 Ready For Paint

Our 1997 Jaguar XK8 has been prepped for primer and paint. Matt has feathered out the block marks from the filler, sanded down the door and wing and removed any flaky paint.

The next step will be to apply filler primer, rub that down and then apply the final paint.

BMW Z3 Winner: Happy Faces And Big Smiles At Bridge HQ

“It’s rather wonderful isn’t it” exclaimed Ian as we revealed his BMW Z3.
Ian Logan is the lucky winner of our modern classic BMW Z3 and made the trip, with his wife Gail, from central London to collect his new car.

Their excitement was tangible as they walked around the car, inspecting their new drive home.

“I can’t thank you enough, it’s incredible” Ian beamed, sat behind the wheel.

Our favourite part of the competitions is seeing the delight of our winners when they see their new motor. We hope Ian and Gail have many happy miles in the car and we can’t wait to see where they take it!

You can see their full reactions in our video below:

Jaguar XK8 In For Corrosion Corrections

The owners of this Jaguar XK8 spotted the early onset of rust in the rear quarter sill and brought it in to be repaired. Our fabrication team have welcomed this little Jag into the fabrication bay where Pricey will get started with welding and replacing the rusted section.

Stay tuned for more updates!

Honda In The House

This 2000 Honda S2000 arrived today for some cosmetic TLC. With some paint chips and signs of rust, this little Honda just needs a small touch up and it’ll be ready to go. The perfect modern classic for summer cruising.

Our Honda’s TLC is mostly going to be concentrated around the wheel arches that need refurbishing.

Aston Martin Arrival

Craig has recently purchased a new car which we’re sorry to say isn’t our next competition car. This beautiful modern Aston will be Craig’s new everyday car which will bring a dash of Aston class to our staff car park! Its come all the way from Southampton and was collected at the same time we dropped our Corvette off with its new owner. We love it when a plan comes together – two new happy owners in one day.

We expect to be doing a few touch ups on it however its not in need of anything major. The first step is a thorough service.

New TVR On The Block

This stunning blue 1998 TVR Chimaera has come in for some interior trim work. Its in need of new carpets and some leather work.

We’re incredibly lucky to have our own in house trim shop and trim team which is now three strong! Over the last year, we’ve gone from one trim technician to a whole department with its specialist team. This means that everything is done under one roof, ensuring that all our restorations are up to the same quality. Its also reduces outsourcing, meaning the time frames are shortened as we rarely have to wait whilst trim parts are ordered in or fitted elsewhere.

If your car is needing an interior trim freshen up, don’t hesitate to get in touch! Give us a call on 01473 742038 or pop us an email on info@bridgeclassiccars.co.uk

Farewell Little Micra

We recently said goodbye to our little Micra that we’d all grown quite fond of. This 1994 Nissan Micra Dot, a future classic, went off to its new home earlier in the week.

As a versatile and nippy little car, its the perfect daily car whilst still being a possible future classic. We have known of our 1994 Nissan Micra Dot for many years as it belonged to Gordon (the Director’s) next door neighbour.

She has owned the car from new in 1994 and has covered just 19,000 miles in that time. Due to the fact that she very rarely used the car, she asked us whether we would consider selling it on her behalf.

DB7 In For A Service

This stunning 1997 Aston Martin DB7 has been sat in storage up at our specialist hanger at RAF Bentwaters. Today it came in for a general service and check up.

This model is particularly rare as its a manual transmission whereas most of these models are automatic. The car was passed down to the current owner after previously belonging to the customers late father.

Our specialist classic car technician Tom has started the check-up today by replacing the oil, oil filter and spark plugs. Tom will also be checking the gearbox, differential and brakes among other elements. We aim to carry out a thorough service and refurbishment of this Aston Martin, leaving it healthy and new afterwards.
